HA3 scored its second point of the season against Oadby last night. HA3 took the skittle alley and HA1 took the dining room.
On board 2, i scored a quick win when my opponent left his f7 square weak. Haka Dave then lost out to the guy that he beat at Oadby last time. Michael played really well and had been an exchange and a pawn up before falling for some tactics - slowing down appears to have really made a positive difference to Michael's play. This left John with a queen and four pawns against a Bishop and three pawns. There was a sticky moment where John had promoted and had two queens on the board. Everyone in the room held their breath and was thinking that John had stalemated his opponent until they realised that David (Pettitt. ex-Littlethorpe) had a single pawn move left. Mate followed shortly afterwards.
The match result was a 2-2 draw. There is still time for a win this season.

There was also a decent turnout for club night. Ray, Drew, Gordon and Daniel were there. We also had Drew the Younger and his mum - they first came along a few weeks ago. Drew's mum plays The Grob Opening. Both have potential.
Well done everyone,
Colin.
